Ever wanted to ride a camel, or get close to a sea lion?
This year's guests at the 2013 Ohio State Fair, which will take place July 24 through Aug. 4, will include these attractions as well as the annual slate of entertainment, arts, rides and other features at the fair.
The 12-day fair, which is at the Ohio Expo Center, has numerous daily attractions, including interactive education stations which teach fairgoers about farming and animals; a model railroad exhibit, a Civil War Encampment, a Land and Living exhibit sponsored by the Ohio Farm Bureau, pig races, parades, a petting zoo, pony rides and more. There also are many competitions that will take place that week, such as Ohio Idol, an all-breed dog agility contest, a 5K race, the Pork Rib-Off, food sculpting competitions and more. Throughout the fair will be animal judging and a livestock auction, an arts and crafts judging, food competitions and more.
The fair also includes entertainment throughout the week. As of March, this year's entertainment lineup will include Jeff Dunham, Martina McBride, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Austin Mahone, Will Downing, Lalah Hathaway, and the All-Ohio State Fair Band and Youth Choir.
Hours are 9 a.m. To 10 a.m., except on Aug. 4, when the fair will be open until 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, and $8 for youth ages 5 to 12, and for seniors ages 60 and older. Children under 5 are free. Discounts are available through Kroger and to American Automobile Association members at AAA sites. Rides require $1 coupons; ride all day wristbands will be available for $23. Parking is $5. A complimentary shuttle will be available.
